With deep sadness we announce the passing of Loren A. Lutes, 71, of Fayetteville, PA, on February 15, 2025; he was surrounded by his family.
Loren was born June 6, 1953, in Lafayette . Indiana, to Chester and Nondis (Shaffer) Lutes. He was raised in Monon, IN.
Upon graduating from high school, he embarked on a career in retail management. Later in life he found his true calling was working with the developmentally disabled as a shop supervisor at Occupational Services Inc. (OSI) in Chambersburg, PA.
Loren possessed a natural affinity for people, his amiable disposition facilitated effortless friendships wherever he went. Before being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Loren was an outdoorsman who enjoyed taking his children on fishing and camping trips, believing that being outside was a remedy for unhappiness. Following his diagnosis, he deepened his spiritual connection with God, oftentimes re-reading the Bible cover-to-cover. He loved watching college football and basketball. His favorite team being Purdue. He enjoyed March madness above all other times of the year, consistently cheering on the underdog. Loren’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Loren is survived by his wife; Dorothy (Craig) Winslet-Lutes, children; Angela Lutes, Aaron Lutes (deceased), step daughter; Kierstyn Jacobs husband Levi, grandchildren; Kyler Lutes , Alicia Smith husband Steven, and Elijah and Lilly Jacobs.
His siblings are: Wanda Durham of Monon IN, LaVerne of Linden IN, Darryl of West Point IN, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He Loved his family & friends very much.
In addition to his parents, he was sadly preceded in death by Frederick (brother) Arlington Heights IL, Art (brother) Holley NY, Lovilla Pardue (sister) of Shreveport LA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15th at 11am at Grand Point Church of Chambersburg. A visitation will be held at 10 am until the service at the church.
