Louanne (Wentzel) Schellhase, 84, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026 at Menno Haven. We are heartbroken but grateful she is at peace with God.

Louanne was born on December 30, 1941, in Lewistown, PA to Charles L.  and Rebecca (Bowers) Wentzel. In 1959 she graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School and then from Hagerstown Business College. She married Joseph G. Schellhase in Frederick, MD on March 5, 1966. Louanne spent much of her life caring for others, working as a Certified Medical Assistant and Health Information Manager working for several local physicians, as well as Piney Mountain Home. 

Louanne enjoyed golf, girls trips, shopping, flowers, music, decorating, learning how things worked, and keeping a spotless home, especially running the vacuum. She was calm, curious, quick to laugh, sassy and usually up for anything.

Her family meant everything to her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who showed up for the people she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Jodi Barnhart (Chris); her granddaughter, Rebecca Karnoscak (Steven); her great-grandchildren, Lucille and Graham; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Wentzel Jr. and half-brother, Robert E. Crawford.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Calvary United Methodist in Fayetteville, PA, on August 7, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00, with a service to follow. Private burial will take place at Norland Cemetery. 

The family is grateful for the wonderful care that has been provided by the Menno Haven staff.
