Louise C. Monack, 103, died on August 29, 2022, at Menno Haven - Chambers Pointe. She was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1919, and was the youngest of seven children of the late N. James and Fannie Clement Monack, none of whom survived her. She attended public schools in Charleroi and continued her education at West Virginia University, obtaining the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science, and at Bryn Mawr College, that awarded her the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry in 1951. She worked for a period in industrial research in the DuPont company, but most of her professional life was spent as a teacher of chemistry, briefly at Sweet Briar College, and at Wilson College from 1950 until her retirement in 1979. Chambersburg became her permanent home and since 1996 she had lived independently in a cottage at Penn Hall Retirement Community. No near relatives survive her.
