Margaret J. Kriska Obituary

Margaret J. “Peggy” Kriska, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at Mercy House of Chambersburg on January 17, 2026. Her husband, Andrew, preceded her in death on August 7, 2017.

 

Born April 18, 1935, in Fayetteville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert R. and Mary L. (Brookens) Wingert.

 

Peggy spent most of her life as a homemaker for her family. Her early career included working at the Kinsel Drugs Co. of Detroit, MI, and at the Stanley Co. in Chambersburg. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing and aerobics at the Chambersburg YMCA.

 

Peggy is survived by two sons, James P. Kriska (Sandra) of Burlington, NC, and Jonathan H. Kriska of Chambersburg, PA; two grandsons, Andrew W. Kriska of Summerville, SC, and Aaron J. Kriska (Megan) of Burlington, NC. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Karen Kanarr Kriska of Mebane, NC, and Olga Panagos Kriska of Fayetteville, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Robert R. and Herbert S. Wingert, and her son Joseph A. Kriska in 2009.

 

Public graveside services will be held on January 22, 2026 at 12:00 PM, at Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to the Chambersburg YMCA or to Mercy House of Chambersburg.
