Martha Shelly Obituary

Martha J. Shelly, died of natural causes on April 7, 2024. She passed peacefully in her home at the age of 88.

Martha is survived by her; daughter, Teresa Cramer (Bryan Cramer); grandchildren, Kelly Shatzer, Dawn Shatzer, V. Alan Shatzer (Tiffeni Price), and Olga “Lyly” Vesga Palikij (Kenny Palikij) ; her great-grandson, Dalton Shatzer, a sister, Mary Ellen Peck, as well as two nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles “Jim” Shelly of 55 years and two brothers; Herman and John Heinbaugh.

Martha was born on July 3, 1935, to Hiram and Bertha Heinbaugh. Martha worked at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg and Tuscarora School District baking for the schools. She was known by all for her delicious cooking and shared her love of cooking with many for their special occasions. Many people have requested her recipes over the years, but she held those secrets dear to her heart. Fastnacht Day will never be the same without her famous doughnuts. Martha and Jim were rarely seen apart during their 55 years of marriage. Together they planned bus trips to Atlantic City for over 40 years, and to Sight and Sound in Lancaster, gaining many friends and memories. They could always be found supporting their grandchildren and great grandchild’s activities - always cheering them on. Martha will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew her but all can find peace that she is reunited with Jim.

A private graveside service is being planned.
