On July 3, 2025 Mary Catherine Griffin (nee Foulkes) of Reisterstown, Maryland passed away after a brief illness while surrounded by her family. She was born November 16, 1940 in Texas and spent many of her years growing up in California. The daughter of the late Alberta Marie Foulkes (nee Mitchell) and Capt. William O. Foulkes, she was able to travel the world as the eldest of four daughters of a career naval officer.
After graduating from Santa Clara University, where she found a talent for acting and teaching, she received a masters degree in education from George Washington University. She became a teacher in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1967 she married her former husband, David Ragan Griffin, and welcomed children David Edward Griffin and Carolyn Elizabeth Griffin (now Yeager).
Mary brought her unique humor and penchant for the dramatic to all things. She loved animals, gardening, flowers, and reading. She was an excellent cook and her confectioneries were legendary. Her Catholic faith brought her comfort throughout her life.
Surviving are her daughter Carolyn, son-in-law Gary, grandchildren Camryn and Jack Yeager, sister Patricia Foulkes Mei, and niece Andrea Mei Smith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Edward in 2019 and her sister Sharon Hartery Ann Bowen in 2005.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, Maryland at the convenience of the family.
