Mary Jane King

Mary Jane King, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away the morning of Friday, February 3, 2023, in Columbia, South Carolina. 

Born January 10, 1935, in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nellie (Phenicie) Mills. 

Mary Jane was married to, Teddy M. King, whom she adored, for 61 years prior to his passing on August 9, 2015. 

Mary Jane attended Hagerstown Business College and for over 30 years she was employed by the Department of Defense at Letterkenny Army Depot until she retired in 1996.  After her retirement she continued to work for several years with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service preparing individual tax returns.

What she loved most was spending time with Teddy and their grandchildren.  She loved being at her beach home in South Carolina, attending their various sporting events and taking them on trips and new adventures.

Mary Jane is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey A. King (Pamela) of Chambersburg, Stephen M. King (Rene P.) of Columbia SC and Troy T. King (Julie) of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Jennifer A. Reed (Cody) of Chambersburg, Janelle A. King, of Chambersburg, Allyson K. Moffat (David) of Columbia, SC, Benjamin B. King of Palm Beach, Florida, Tucker T. King of Orlando, Florida and Tobin T. King of Chambersburg, PA and seven great-grandchildren; Ashlyn, Addyson, Hailey, Luke, Knox, Wells and Taite.

In addition to her parents and husband, Teddy, she is preceded in death by her three sisters, Evelyn Scott of Chambersburg, Jean Elizabeth Zimmerman of Mercersburg, and Floe Lilley of Crystal River, FL.

Per Mary Jane’s wishes, funeral services will be private, and Interment will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the WellSpan Rhonda Brake Shreiner Women’s Center, in her memory.
