Mary Runkle Obituary

Mary Eileen Runkle, 94, went to the Lord on December 30, 2013, at the Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born on July 17, 1919, in Mount Holly Springs, she was the daughter of the late William Thaw and Hilda May McCaleb.

Mary graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg, where she loved the performing arts. Her journey through life spanned parts of eleven decades and presented her with the opportunity to live on both coasts of the United States. She enjoyed Bible study and continuously gave back to the community as a dedicated volunteer. Mary loved the outdoors and was an avid walker. Through her final days, she was always defined by a sense of humor, a warm heart and a healthy dose of vitality.

Mary is survived by son, Robert Nash of Chico, Calif.; daughter, Patricia Garnick and husband Dave of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Betsy Seitz of Felton; daughter, Annette Bahn of West Chester; and son, Steven Runkle and wife Susan of Fayetteville. Mary is also survived by one grandson.

In addition to her parents, preceding Mary in death were her loving husband Harry; three brothers, William, Robert and Colin; and sister, June. Mary had a passionate interest in angels and her family finds comfort that she has found her way to eternal peace by their side.
