Mary Grace Strite Obituary

Mary Grace Strite, 90, of Chambersburg went home to be with her Savior on September 30, 2022, in her home surrounded by loving family. Born on November 23, 1931, in Lititz, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Max and Mary Clugston. She married Clarence B. Strite on December 29, 1951. She faithfully served alongside him in pastoral ministry at Black Oak and Cedar Grove Mennonite churches.
Mary Grace was a member of the Mission Hill Church (formerly Chambersburg BIC). She cooked for Camp Joy-El ministries for many years and enjoyed reading, cooking, puzzles, and quilting. But it was spending time with her husband and family that brought her the greatest joy.
She is survived by four sons, Nathan (husband of Sherrie) Strite of Sebring, Florida, Wilmer (husband of Frances) Strite of Valdosta, Georgia, Alvin (husband of Michelle) Strite of Mercersburg, Kevin (husband of Lynda) Strite of St. Augustine, Florida, and a daughter, Anna Mae Burkholder of Chambersburg. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, five sisters and one brother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Clarence, two daughters, Mary Ann and Brenda, son-in-law, Marlin Burkholder, two brothers, Warren and Thomas Clugston, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg. A celebration of life service will be held at Chambersburg Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
