Maxine Gress, 95, of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania passed away October 7, 2022 at Laurel Lakes Nursing Home. She was born on August 26, 1927 in Knobsville, Pennsylvania to John and Dorothy (Souders) Cline. She is the widow of the late Fred Gress, who died in 2017. She had worked at the Stanley Company earlier in her life. Maxine is a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and had been a member of Edenville United Methodist Church. She had been very active in her church having been a Sunday School teacher, a member of United Methodist Women, and helping with the school release time. She loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking.
She is survived by her two children: Carol Lee Keefer of St. Thomas and David (husband of Julie) Gress of Ft. Loudon. She has five granddaughters: Pam (Jeff) Sites of Lemasters, Jeni (John) Brenneman of York, Jessica Gress of Ft. Loudon, Shelby Gress of Chambersburg, and Courtney (Caleb) Browder of Chambersburg. She has five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a young son, Freddie. She is the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Oct. 13, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
