She graduated from Chambersburg High School Class of 1948, on a Friday and went to work at Letterkenny Army Depot the following Monday. Maxine married her husband, Charles Yeager in 1949 and raised four children: Rhonda (Larry) Keefer, Betsy (Brian Fogal) Yeager, Chuck Yeager, and Joyce Yeager. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, son Chuck Jr., grandson Corey Keefer, brothers Kenneth and Jim Wright and sister Shirley Johnson. Maxine lived a life well lived. She was the secretary for her husband at Yeager's Upholstery Shop for several years and later she and her husband owned and operated six rental cottages at Cowan's Gap State Park.
