Melvin R. Kerlin Obituary

Melvin R. Kerlin, 93, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away September 28, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital with family by his side.  He was born on June 27, 1929  in Burnt Cabins, Pennsylvania  to Lloyd  and Esther  (Welch) Kerlin.  He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He retired in 1987 from the Federal Government where he had served as a contracting officer. He enjoyed hunting, various sports, and volunteer activities.  He was a lifelong member of the Burnt Cabins United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Elder and Treasurer.  He was a graduate from Penn State University.  
     He is survived by his wife, Lucy Dehart Kerlin.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Kerlin, two brothers, Merrill and Olna Kerlin and his parents.  He is survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kerlin of McConnellsburg and several nieces and nephews.  
     Funeral services will be conducted Monday Oct. 3, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Burnt Cabins United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Richards officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kelsocorneliusfh.com.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be sent to Burnt Cabins United Presbyterian Church, Burnt Cabins, PA.
