Michael A. Sabol, 93, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away July 9, 2021 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1928 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Michael and Helen (Goracka) Sabol. He was an Army Veteran serving in Japan during the Occupation after WWII, who achieved the rank of Corporal, he then enlisted in the US Army Reserves and rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and retired from the reserves in 1988. He served in the State Police for 30 years and served in Chambersburg beginning in 1953 and later returned to Chambersburg where he retired as a Lieutenant in 1980. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Chambersburg Council 1426, Catholic War Veterans Post 1930, and most of the Veterans Organizations in the Chambersburg area. He was co-founder of Cumberland Valley 21 Day Retreat Organization.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (wife of Brian) Sabol-Jones of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Drozda Sabol in 2013 and his brother, Robert L. Sabol.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening July 13, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg. Interment will be at the families convenience at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations in his name be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
