Nancy Ann Hoke, 84, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 12th, 2025. She was born in Beaver Falls, PA, on June 29th, 1941, to George and Alice Mary (Wilson) Breneman.
Nancy graduated from the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She was very proud to be a graduate of the Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Nancy served as a Registered Nurse specializing as a pediatric and charge nurse at the Chambersburg Hospital for over 14 years. She worked as an Elementary School Nurse with the Chambersburg Area School District for 26 years where she said she was blessed to work in many schools with many students and teachers each year. She truly loved working with kids and was touched if people would say hello when they saw her out in the community. She returned to school and graduated from Wilson College with her Bachelor's degree and Shippensburg University with a Master's degree in Community Counseling. This allowed her to work in private practice as a counselor/psychotherapist. Nancy also served and volunteered with many groups over the years including the Cumberland Valley Mental Health Center, Project Concern, Chambersburg Insight, Chambersburg & Franklin County Women's Clubs, Kindly Canines, and with others as well as with various groups within Park Avenue and St. Paul United Methodist churches. Nancy enjoyed time with family, travel with Gene, spoiling the family's dogs, writing poetry, and creating short stories. After turning 50 years old, Nancy found a new hobby and became an accomplished quilter. She loved to share her joy of color, designs, and sewing with others. She always told her family and friends to use the quilts knowing they were made with love.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert E. (Gene) Hoke. She has three daughters: Sherry (Vincent), Debra (James), and Julia (Michael); a sister G. Jean Brothers; a nephew Christopher; nine (9) grandchildren: Alexander, Matthew (Victoria), Sarah (Alain), Patrick (Kayla), Luke (fiancée Annie), Allison (fiancé Jordan), Hannah, Emily, and Daniel, and eight (8) great-grandchildren along with extended family she and Gene truly love as their own. Nancy enjoyed many family reunions with her cousins and time with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Alexander.
