Nancy Lynn Thomas, 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away December 13, 2025. She was born July 17, 1951, in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Claude and Barbara (Cary) Giles.  She was the loving mother of Carianne (Timothy) Rawlings and grandmother to Elisa Rawlings.  She was cherished by sister Carol Krempa, brothers Thomas (Amy) Giles and Christopher Giles as well as many nieces and nephews. 

 

Nancy graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.  She enjoyed a 40-year career in software programming, mostly focused on CNC control software for Cincinnati Milacron.  She retired from Cincinnati Financial in 2011 to become a full-time grandmother.

 

Nancy took up skydiving after trying it with a group of work friends at Waynesville Sky Sports.  She completed more than 275 jumps over nearly a decade, traveling the east coast for competitions, exhibitions, and “jump in” visits to other skydiving centers. 

 

Nancy was a lifetime lover of horses, working in barns in exchange for lessons as a teen and purchasing her first horse shortly after graduating college.  She enjoyed showing for several years before playing polo with Cincinnati Polo Club.  Nancy then became a horse show mom, 4-H leader, and member of the Ohio Horsemen’s Council.  She maintained lasting friendships with her “horse ladies,” sharing cards and letters after moving to Pennsylvania.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy’s name may be made to the Montessori Academy of Chambersburg, a non-profit school attended by her granddaughter.
