Pearl V. Straley, 93, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, was received into the hands of Jesus on September 7, 2024. She was born on May 7, 1931, in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania to William and Bertha (Mosser) Armstrong. Pearl was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, PA. She loved bowling and golfing in leagues. She enjoyed country music, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Chambersburg Fitness Center. She was also a member of the Engelbert Humperdinck fan club. Pearl enjoyed traveling, especially going to the beach. She loved snowmobiling in the Adirondacks in Old Forge, New York for over 40 years.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Sharon (wife of Dean) Hershey of Shippensburg, daughter-in-law Kathie Straley, four grandchildren; Ryan (husband of Catherine) Straley of Harrisburg, Lori (wife of Shaun) Smith of Fayetteville, Kelly Gruver of Shippensburg and Jessica Hershey of Shippensburg, and eight great-grandchildren; Bailey Maple of Chambersburg, Ty Smith of Fayetteville, Jaidyn Kennedy, Brinley, Bradley, and Dylan Gruver of Shippensburg, and Carter Hershey and Xander Hill of Shippensburg, and a great-great grandson, Ayden Maple. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Carl Straley in 2023, a son, Greg Straley, as well as two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Martin House in Menno Haven’s Brookview Healthcare Center.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 6:30 PM, at Kelso- Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg, with Pastor Robin Baer officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
