On November 6, 2025, Peggy Jean DeMent went to Heaven to be with our Lord. She was born in Roanoke, VA on February 15, 1939, the daughter of Hiram and Beulah (Grice) Brown.
She is survived by two sons; William (Billy) Watkins and wife Tammy of St. Thomas, PA, and Frank and wife Joelle of Edgewater, FL, four daughters; Sheila Miller and husband Lee of Chevy Chase, MD, Gail Riera and husband John and Patti Kennedy and husband Dan, both of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Lisa Myers and husband Jimmy of Seaford, VA. She is also survived by seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons, three sisters; Eula Kanode of Troutville, VA, Edie Olecki and husband Bruce of Acworth, GA, and Linda Henninger of Roanoke, VA, and two brothers; Wayne Brown and wife Kay of Fincastle, VA, and Gene Brown and wife Sharon of Chambersburg, PA, as well as eight nephews and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John “Big Ed”, son John Watkins, three brothers; Bobby, Donald, and Kenneth Brown, two sisters; Betty Mitchell and JoAnne Murphy.
Peggy worked in the DC Metro area in the printing industry from 1960 until 2008 when she retired.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
