R. Ray Reeder Obituary

R. Ray Reeder, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away July 6, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services where he had resided for the past three years. He was born on November 24, 1928 in McConnellsburg , Pennsylvania to Melvin and Blanche (Chestnut ) Reeder . He had been an auto mechanic all of his life, having worked for Morton's Esso in St. Thomas, Letterkenny Army Depot, and then J.C. Penny Auto. He was transferred to Arizona in the auto division, where he later retired and moved back to the Chambersburg area. He loved traveling, camping, cars, square dancing and baseball. He had been a member of King St. United Brethren Church before moving to Arizona. He is survived by his two children: Julie (wife of Ted) Cross of Chambersburg and Russell Ray (husband of Barb) Reeder Jr. of Syracuse, Utah. He has four grandchildren: Cobey Cross of California, Taneil McWane of Harrisburg, PA, Nathan Reeder of Utah & Natausha Griffin of Utah. He is also survived by a brother, George Reeder of Largo, Fl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel Foreman Reeder in 2014, and a brother, Melvin Reeder Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 12 at 11:00 AM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg with Rev. Neil Ray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will be held in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the American Heart Association,610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
