Richard C. Hoffman, 77, of Saint Thomas, passed away September 1, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1939 in Chambersburg , Pennsylvania to Clarence and Mabel (Kessinger ) Hoffman. He was a member of Mt. Parnell Lions Club, St. Thomas United Methodist Church, Past member and director of the St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Company, past member of the Ft. Loudon Ruritan Club and had been a Scout Master of Troop 250 in Fannettsburg. He had been part owner with his father of Richmond Elevator, later worked for Kenneth Plummer Construction, and then had been in business as Hoffman Construction, building and remodeling homes in the area. For many years he was the Santa Claus for many Christmas parties in the area.
He is survived by his wife Donna Cook Hoffman and their three children: Richard C. (husband of Shelly) Hoffman Jr. of Fayetteville, Kevin R. (husband of Kim) Hoffman of St. Thomas, and Kimberly S. (wife of Delbert) Meyers of St. Thomas. He has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 8th at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randall Zeiler and Rev. Butch Neil officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the church and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas has been entrusted with conducting the services.
