Richard G. Hoover, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away January 14, 2026. He was born July 30, 1932, in Waynesboro, PA, the son of Walter and Mattie (Martin) Hoover.
Richard served in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown. He was a proud Christian and faithful, long time member of The Open Door Church. Richard volunteered at Bible Release for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to the shore, flounder fishing and the outdoors.
Richard is survived by three children, Brian (husband of Paula) Hoover, Brenton (husband of Lisa) Hoover, and Beth Ann (wife of Thomas) McCleaf; grandchildren, Wesley, Derrick, Abigale, Ashley, Kerri, Jason, Brandon, and Aaron; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth L. (Lininger) Hoover, grandson Thomas, as well as eleven siblings.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St, Chambersburg, PA, with Pastor Mike Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation or memorial gift can be made to Open Door Church in Chambersburg, PA.
