Russell E. Yeakle, 87, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA. Born January 3, 1930, in Little Cove, PA, he was the son of the late Russell B. and Mae Augusta Yeakle. He was the husband of 63 years to the late Lois Arlene (Pryor) Yeakle who died May 26, 2017.
Russell was a 1948 graduate of Mercersburg High School. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was Honorably Discharged. Russell was a manager at J.C. McCrory stores in Maryland, Ohio, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. He later returned to Pennsylvania and retired as an Inspector from Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, PA after more than 30 years of service.
Russell was a past member of the St. Thomas Ruritan Club and the St. Thomas American Legion, and is a current member of the Grove Grey Group Retirees.
Russell is survived by two daughters, Brenda Y. Englerth and her husband, Thomas, of Ft. Loudon, PA and Robin L. Barrows and her husband, Alan, of Chambersburg, two grandchildren, Dr. Steven A. Barrows and his fiancé, Carley Tagge, and Scott R. Barrows and his wife, Maddy, one great granddaughter, Charlotte Mae Barrrows, and a half-sister, Ginger (Yeakle) Brindle and her husband Art of Chambersburg,
In addition to his wife and parents, Russell was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Yeakle.
The Celebration of Life memorial service 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Penn Hall Chapel, 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Chaplin Brenda K. Doyle will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Penn Hall Chapel.
