Ruth Virginia Waxter, 102, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and formerly of Cumming, Georgia, passed away January 23, 2020 at Quincy Village Nursing Home. She was born on December 16, 1917 in Smithfield, Virginia to Jacob and Alwine (Hoehne) Meyer. She had a green thumb and had exceptional gardens and flower beds. During her high school career she attended a private school and served as a nanny for the children of movie producers in New Jersey. After graduating from high school she worked for the attache for the Belgium Embassy. As a young adult she helped out on her father's dairy farm. She married Frank Waxter and they remained married until his death in 2010. During their life together, they built their own home and enjoyed family and life adventures.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Folkenberg of Castle Rock, Colorado. She has six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Timothy Waxter and five siblings.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of family. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg has been entrusted with handling the funeral arrangements.
