Shawnna Maree Ryder

Shawnna Maree Ryder, 43, of St. Thomas, PA passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital after a short illness.  Shawnna was born in Waynesboro, PA and lived most of her life in the St. Thomas area until her passing on Wednesday May 26, 2021.  She was a 1996 graduate of James Buchanan High School then served in in the United States Army from 1997 – 2001.  Shawnna worked at Wal-mart in several positions for over 15 years with her most recent being in the receiving department. She was an avid reader and loved to knit and crochet often creating her own patterns and then enjoyed giving the end products as gifts.  She cherished spending time with family and friends especially at Cowan’s Gap.   When she wasn’t listening to country music, Shawnna enjoyed listening to podcasts.  Shawnna was a member of the Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church in Waynesboro, PA.

Shawnna was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Donald E. Turner, Sr.; paternal grandparents M. William and Shirley (Rock) Ryder, one aunt and one uncle.  She is survived by her mother Debra J. Ryder (wife April Rhone) of Chambersburg; father William L. Ryder and Sister Nicole R. Ryder both of St. Thomas; a brother Andrew L Ryder (wife Casey) of Orrstown; 2 nieces, Whitney DeShong and Brooklyn Ryder; and a nephew Jase Ryder; and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 am followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 am.
