Shirley M. Koontz Obituary

Shirley May Koontz, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away March 10, 2026, at Mercy House. She was born April 10, 1938, in Chambersburg, PA, the daughter of Dominic Garro and Laura Gray. 


Shirley enjoyed creating oil paintings, music, and antiques. She was a member of the St. Thomas Assembly of God. Shirley was strong in her faith and adored her grandchildren.


Shirley is survived by her children, Jerri Harrison (Charles Powell), and Pete Harrison (Detsie); step-children, Robert Koontz Jr. (Jill), and Roben Englehart (John), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, siblings Eva Kay Sherman and Dennis Michael “Mike” Uglow.



In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Koontz, and brother Robert Uglow.


A funeral service will be held on April 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, with Pastor Jacob Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
