Tex E. Shaffer Obituary

Tex E. Shaffer, 82, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2022. He was born on July 29, 1940, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania to the late Paul and Margarene  (Statler) Shaffer. Tex was a 1958 graduate of St. Thomas High School. He served in both the United States Army and National Guard with a special certification in sharpshooting and tank weaponry. Tex was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as the chief of quality assurance branch of armament and fire control. He was a member of the Crider's United Brethren Church and Mt. Parnell Lions Club. Tex coached many in softball over the years at Hamilton Heights, including his daughters, and had played for multiple local softball leagues. He was a well-traveled hunter and a season ticket holder Penn State fan. 

 

Tex is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Linda, daughters, Lori (Shaffer) Shearer, husband Randy, Torina (Shaffer) DeVice, husband Anthony. He is also survived by his grandsons, Hunter, Gunnar, Gavin and Blake, great-grandchildren, Lacey, Carter and Shylee, twin brothers, Daryl and Darwin Shaffer, and sister Bonnie Byers.
