William Edwin Effland, 77, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg. He was born August 21, 1947, in Chambersburg, PA, to Millard and Lydia (Clark) Effland. William was in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. Early in life he worked in construction, but retired from the Tuscarora School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at Patuxent Camp Sites and spending time with friends and family.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia A. (Hoover) Effland. They were married on December 31, 1969. He is also survived by a son, Rodney (husband of Tina) Effland of Fayetteville, three grandchildren; Tyler (husband of Nicole) Effland of Chambersburg, Ciji (wife of Ben) Berry of Shippensburg, and Kaci (wife of Kevin) Leist of Lakewood CO, as well as one great-granddaughter Whitley. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother and a daughter.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, with Pastor Edward Kerlin officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Chambersburg.
