William Ruby Obituary


William D. (Bob) Ruby, age 83, of Fayetteville, passed away March 18, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born October 27, 1930 in Central City, PA to Gilbert and Lula (Meck) Ruby. He was married to Ethel Frank Ruby on Nov. 20, 1952. He was a member of First Church of God in Chambersburg. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and after returning home worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a welder for thirty five years. He was a member of the Chambersburg American Legion Post 46, where he had served as Post Commander and various other offices in the club, Forty and Eight, Chambersburg Club, Amvets Post 224, VFW Post 1599, and Marine Corp League. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Ethel Grace Frank Ruby and their three children: Eugene W. (husband of Bonny) Poe of Chambersburg, Debra Ann (wife of Donald) Kunkle of Chambersburg, and Bobbi Jo (wife of Andrew) Barnhart of Dillsburg. Bob has eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Jo Rife. He was the last of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. with Rev. Lawrence Metzler officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be held at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be sent to First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
