Willis P. (Junie) Hawbaker, Jr passed from this life on October 25, 2023. He was born in Mercersburg, PA on March 21, 1928, the second child of W. Preston and Elva May (Blair) Hawbaker. On March 4, 1950 he married Dorothy L. Chamberlain; they had a son Stephen C. Hawbaker and a daughter Pamela S. Hawbaker. Dorothy died in August, 1962. On February 1, 1964 Junie married Lois J. Armstrong. They were married until she died in January, 2017.

Junie was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy on Guam 1945-1946. After returning home he worked a number of years as a TV and appliance repairman before he and Lois opened their furniture upholstery business which they operated in the Mercersburg Area for 32 years. After retiring from the business, they moved to Menno Haven in Chambersburg where they lived the rest of their lives.

Junie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg, where he served on numerous boards and committees. He was also a member of the Mercersburg Sprotsmen’s Association as well as the VFW and Lions Club, all in Mercersburg.

In addition to his wives and parents, Junie was predeceased by brothers James A. Hawbaker and Robert N. Hawbaker and sister Helen Widdows. He is survived by his son and daughter, as well as grandchildren Sadie L. Wolf (Darren), Benjamin F. Hawbaker, Emily B. Hawbaker (AJ Greer) and John T. Bair (Jessica), great grandchildren Sophia Hawbaker, Theodore Hawbaker, Mason Bair, Connor Bair, Lincoln Bair and Nathaniel Wolf. He is also survived by siblings Boyd E. Hawbaker (Dorothy), Richard P. Hawbaker, Mazie J. Meyers and Rudy L. Hawbaker (Sandra) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Final arrangements are through Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial service celebrating Junie’s life will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2023 in the Chapel of the Brookview Health Center Building on Menno Haven’s Brookview Campus, Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg PA.
